Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Controller / Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Bucharest. This role combines hands-on accounting expertise with financial control and reporting responsibilities and will support the financial operations of the entire group, not only the Romanian entity.
Your Responsibilities:
Financial Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Romanian GAAP and IFRS.
Manage and review general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and closing processes.
Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial records and reporting.
Prepare group financial reporting and consolidation inputs.
Coordinate the preparation of statutory financial statements and regulatory filings.
Group Financial Control
Provide financial control and oversight for group-level activities, supporting multiple entities and jurisdictions where required.
Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls, accounting policies, and reporting procedures across the group.
Audit & Compliance
Coordinate and support external audits, internal audits, and regulatory reviews.
Ensure compliance with Romanian accounting regulations, tax requirements, and IFRS reporting standards.
Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial consultants.
Financial Analysis & Management Support
Provide financial insights, reporting, and analysis to senior management and group leadership.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Monitor financial performance and highlight key variances, trends, and risks.
Process Optimization
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
Support the implementation or enhancement of ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
Contribute to the development of group financial policies and best practices.
Your Profile:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (essential).
Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
Demonstrated experience with Romanian GAAP and IFRS financial reporting (mandatory).
Experience supporting group or multi-entity financial structures is strongly preferred.
Previous experience in international companies or audit firms is considered an advantage.
Required Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate accounting and financial concepts.
Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
Expertise in financial reporting, GAAP, and tax regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify potential risks and propose solutions.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
