Role objective
The Junior Threat analysis and firewall engineer at Vox Solutions plays a key role in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing SMS traffic to detect potential fraud, gray route leakages, and improving traffic revenue. This role involves working with large datasets, identifying patterns, and providing actionable insights to ensure that SMS traffic adheres to authorized routes. The Junior Threat analysis and firewall engineer works closely with other teams to support fraud detection strategies and operational improvements.
Reports to: Head of Threat Analysis & Firewall
Key interactions: Testing team, Engineering team, Product team, Partner Support team, Project Management team.
Key Responsibilities:
Detect grey routes and perform big data parsing to identity potential revenue leaks.
Recognize and analyze SMS traffic sources to gain insight into traffic patterns and behavior.
Conduct data mining, correlation, and aggregation to extract meaningful information from large datasets. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of reporting and data collection.
Implement data validation processes, perform checks for missing files, and consolidate data to ensure 100% data collection. Aim for timely report preparation and delivery to relevant stakeholders.
Identify new patterns and traffic behavior, proactively monitoring and analyzing traffic anomalies.
Search for new spam/fraud campaigns and develop strategies to block and mitigate fraudulent activities.
Utilize visualization tools for traffic analysis, providing clear and actionable insights.
Prepare analysis and activity reports on traffic irregularities, deep diving into trend analysis to understand the drivers of anomalous traffic activity.
Monitor and manage the average time to close tickets (TT Resolution Time). Ensure effective and efficient ticket management processes.
Perform regular traffic analysis, generate reports, and present insights to senior management and partners. Identify trends, anomalies, and potential risks to ensure proactive decision-making and operational improvements.
Skills:
Analytical Skills: Strong ability to perform data mining, correlation, and aggregation to identify traffic patterns, trends, and anomalies.
Data Visualization: Proficiency in using visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel) to present complex data in an understandable and actionable manner.
Traffic Analysis Expertise: Understanding of SMS traffic behavior, gray routes, and A2P/P2P traffic management.
Scripting & Automation: Basic knowledge of Python or Bash scripting for automating data analysis tasks is preferred.
Fraud Detection: Ability to identify and develop strategies to block fraudulent traffic and spam campaigns.
Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in data collection, analysis, and report preparation.
Problem Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to investigate issues related to traffic drops and work with other teams to resolve them.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting findings and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Data Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Certifications in data analysis, telecom management, or fraud prevention would be advantageous.
0-2 years of experience in data analysis, traffic analysis, or a similar role within the telecom industry.
Experience working with large datasets and performing traffic analysis in a telecom or network operations environment is a plus.
Familiarity with fraud detection methods, particularly within SMS and voice traffic, is an advantage.
